Drift Boats : :
You dream of evenings like this. Mayflies swirl through the air dancing over the still evening sky as your guide eases the boat into perfect position with a gentle scull of the oars. Clearly you could never have gotten this close with the drift positioned so perfectly by the seam. Your guide leans close, a gentle bead of sweat slides down his brow as he instructs you to gently drop your dry fly just up stream of the last rise.
Grindstone was the first to bring the adventure of McKenzie style drift boating to south western Ontario. Be it the Saugeen River, Lake Huron and the Georgian Bay's tributaries; or the Grand River watershed; let us take you out on the water for a truly enjoyable fishing adventure!
Our ClackaCraft boats are designed to handle one to two anglers as well as your guide. Each boat comes equipped with leg braces to enable each angler to balance while casting and negotiating various runs. Our guides know the water and how to handle these boats in all conditions. During colder months each drift boat is heated, allowing you to keep you warm and comfortable while drifting any one of our great rivers. We often stop to "wade fish" the better runs so don't forget to bring your waders along as well.
Rivers : :
Grindstone has been guiding on 10 of Southern Ontario's top rivers for more than nine years now. Each one of these rivers has its own attributes that make them part of the great fishery that southern Ontario boasts. Whatever the species, Grindstone's guides will take you to the river and the location that will give you the best opportunity to make your outing a memorable experience. Included in this list of rivers is the blue-ribbon Grand River, described by some as the best brown trout fishery on the eastern seaboard. There's also the wildly fantastic Saugeen River, which in the same outing can produce three or four different species of cold water game fish and offer a magnificent view of the beautiful landscape that makes up southern Ontario.
